MY PHOTOGRAPHY

Downtown Phoenix Farmers Market

The alluring smells of food waft from the rows of pop-up tents set up in the parking lot between E McKinley and North 5th streets. Established in 2005 the family-friendly Downtown Phoenix Farmers Market is a diverse year-round urban community hub, held every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. All vendors produce their own products whether they are local growers, crafters, or creators. Vendors are prioritized by those who offer new and unique products to the market with a large mix of merchandise from locally grown fresh produce to handcrafted ceramics and home goods. Agricultural, prepared food, artisan vendors, and more are welcome; they practice both social and environmental sustainability within their business models. A variety of ready-to-eat food and drink, prepared by the marketeers, can be enjoyed as customers walk around the outside market or sit in the designated dining areas. Here are the photos I took from my trip to the farmers market on February 17, 2024.

Scottsdale Reproductive Rights Rally

Arizona's Supreme Court reinstated a law from 1864 sparking outrage among Arizonans of all demographics. On the afternoon of April 14, protesters stood with handmade signs in support of reproductive rights on the intersection of Camelback and Scottsdale roads. Protesters vehemently oppose the near-total ban that criminalizing abortion care and is now law in Arizona. The rally served as an opportunity to register to vote, offered information on volunteer canvas training sessions and other opportunities to be involved with the Arizona Abortion Access movement. In addition to sign-making stations, attendees could sign the Triple-A petition to amend the state's constitution, securing abortion as a constitutional right.

A Phoenix Rainy Day

With few rainy days in the Phoenix Valley, there are not many opportunities to enjoy the soft cloudy quiet of the Downtown and Tempe ASU campuses. While students are still out and about, waiting for the bus, or walking to class, there is a temporary reprieve from the fast hustle and bustle of the city as it lightly sprinkles throughout the day.
